Be Part of the Magic!
Become an Opera Pacific Docent! |
Do you love opera? Do you enjoy interacting with young people? Here's your chance to do both! We are currently looking for qualified volunteer docents to visit school groups prior to their attendance to Student Preview (Opera Pacific's invitational dress rehearsal).
Docents are volunteer guest speakers who are invited by teachers/group leaders to speak to classes, choral groups, home study groups, etc. Most groups are comprised of young people, ages 11-18. Occasionally, a docent will be asked to speak to primary children (ages 5-10), special education or adult/senior groups. Docent talks are typically illustrated through musical excerpts, pictures, video clips-whatever the docent chooses in order to engage, educate and excite their audience! Training seminars and workshops are provided to each docent, courtesy of Opera Pacific, to assist each docent in the preparation of their presentations.
Each Opera Pacific docent is carefully selected through an application and interview process. Those selected will participate throughout the year, presenting several talks on each of the operas offered during the current season. Active docents are eligible for complimentary tickets to Student Preview and Opera Pacific's exciting Prologue series as well as tours, social events and informative lectures by Opera Pacific's artistic and administrative staff. |
